At Adelaide Portrait Studios, we specialise in commissioned family portrait photography, creating finished portrait artwork designed specifically for our clients’ homes.

Our Signature Portrait Experience is intentionally unhurried and personal allowing you to enjoy the process, see the portraits first, and then decide what feels right for your family.

A considered approach, for families who value quality

This experience is suited to families who want meaningful portrait artwork for their home, appreciate guidance and expertise rather than sales pressure, value craftsmanship, longevity, and thoughtful design, and prefer a relaxed, personal photography experience.

Some families commission a single wall portrait. Others create a collection over time. There is no expectation - only guidance and care.

How the experience works

Portrait Session

Your experience begins with a relaxed family portrait session at our Adelaide studio or one of Adelaide’s beautiful parks, beaches or Adelaide Hills locations. We photograph gently and thoughtfully, focusing on natural connection rather than forced posing.

Viewing & Design

You'll return for a private viewing where we revisit the portraits together and discuss what best suits your home, your space, and your style. Calm, considered, and never rushed. Clients often tell us this is the most enjoyable part of the entire experience.

Artwork Creation

From there, we guide you through creating finished portrait artwork, designed to live beautifully in your home for years to come.

A more personal way of working

We work with a limited number of families at any one time to ensure each experience receives our full attention.
There are no high-pressure decisions. And there is no obligation to proceed beyond what feels right for you.

Our role is to guide you thoughtfully, helping you see what’s possible and make decisions with clarity and confidence.

Signature Portrait Experiences are offered in limited numbers.

We photograph just six families per week to ensure every portrait receives the time, care, and attention it deserves. Sessions are released in curated blocks and often fill ahead of time.

Three Ways to Begin Your Portrait Experience

Every portrait we create is designed with the intention of becoming finished artwork for the home.
Because families come to us at different stages of readiness, we offer three ways to begin each centered around the same thoughtful, guided approach.

Artist Collection — $1,800

Our most complete portrait experience. Designed for clients who want a substantial, lasting artwork created with full intention from the very beginning - from how the portraits are photographed through to how the finished piece lives in your home.

Includes:

Extended portrait session, studio or location. Full design consultation and home placement planning. One finished Alcove (50cm) Masters Collection portrait (valued at $2,200) on French cotton canvas or fine art archival paper, individually crafted and artist-finished, ready to hang. Additional wall art and portrait collections available at your viewing appointment.

The Masters Collection represents the finest work we produce. Each piece is individually designed, hand-finished in-house, and created to hold its presence in your home for generations.

Signature Portrait Commission — $950 (Recommended)

Our complete, fully guided portrait commission — allowing us to plan the session and finished artwork with intention from the very beginning.

Includes:

Portrait photography session, studio or location. Pre-session design consultation. Guidance on artwork size, style, and placement for your home. Priority access to session and viewing appointments. In-person portrait viewing and artwork design consultation. One finished Office (40cm) Gallery Collection portrait (valued at $995) fully retouched, archival quality, matted and ready to frame.. Additional wall art and portrait collections available at your viewing appointment.

Most families choose this option. The included portrait is a genuine finished piece, not a credit or a voucher. The viewing appointment is where many clients choose to add to their collection.

Portrait Experience — $295

A relaxed, professionally guided portrait session followed by a private viewing where you can explore your portraits and choose any artwork that feels right for your home.

Includes:

Portrait photography session, studio or location. Private viewing appointment. Artwork chosen and ordered at your viewing.

Which option is right for you?

If you already know you'd love significant artwork created for your home, the Artist Collection allows us to plan everything at the highest level from the beginning.

If you know you'd love a finished portrait and want a guided, complete experience, the Signature Portrait Commission is the natural choice for most families.

If you'd prefer to start simply and experience the process first, the Portrait Experience offers a relaxed starting point.

Either way, the experience is calm, personal, and guided. Decisions are made only after you've seen your portraits. If you're unsure, we're very happy to talk it through during a brief call.
